Hello Spicy Birds!

Sometimes I draw my ideas... This is what a "Spicy Bird" looks like!
Sometimes I draw my ideas... This is what a "Spicy Bird" looks like!

What is a Spicy Bird? Or should we say, who?

Neurodivergent, Neuro-Spicy 🔥, Neuro-Sparkly ✨… people that identify with these terms are built different. We love harder, think more, create, innovate, and dream big. We also struggle to fit into a world that was not built for us. We can struggle to feel accepted, or just to function amidst all of the demands of modern life.

A few challenges most of us have in common:

  • We lose track of time.

  • We forget important things. A lot.

  • We lose things. Constantly.

  • We have so many great ideas… at 2am.

  • Our desks and desktops are a mess.

  • We struggle to establish and keep boundaries in relationships.

  • We avoid starting big projects and even when we do, we struggle to finish.

  • We can become so overwhelmed it feels paralyzing.

  • Our emotions hit us hard.

  • We feel anxious about making another mistake.

  • We feel depressed because we can never seem to get ahead.

  • Even little things, like getting up out of bed to brush our teeth? Impossible.

We are people with challenges. We are also...

  • Hilarious and gregarious people you will ever meet.

  • High energy and High Enthusiasm – it is infectious and can help motivate others

  • Resilient and Adaptable-  We have had to adapt ourselves to survive te demands of daily life since early childhood

  • Highly Empathetic and intuitive

    • High emotional intelligence, allowing for strong awareness of social dynamics and emotions in a room.

  • Fast  and creative problem solvers

    • Fast-paced thinking that enables individuals to notice details others miss and act on opportunities.

  • Fair and Just- we have a high sense of justice and what is fair

    • Have potential to be great advocates for others

  • Have potential to be great leaders

  •  Usually good in a crisis, or high pressure situation

  • Highly Creative

    •  People that think outside the box and come up with ideas others do not

You know what they say about “Birds of a Feather” …

They flock together!

Creating your own support system is CRUCIAL if you have ADHD, autism, or any type of neurodivergence. No one knows THE STRUGGLE that neurodivergent people face like other neurodivergent people! And if you notice… We naturally gravitate toward one another.

In my personal experience...

Once I learned more about ADHD and my own neurodivergence, and took a look around me at all of my friends, family and close relationships…. YEP they are nearly all neurodivergent in one way or another!

One of the goals of my coaching practice is to create a COMMUNITY for neurodivergent people who are interested in coaching, or just in finding ways to navigate life a little easier, with a little more support. (Which one of us “Spicy-Birds” could not use more support?!)

If you relate to any of the challenges or strengths listed above, I would love to hear from you!

Signing off for now my fellow Spicy Birds!
